Voxel Art
About This Section
In recent years, I've been experimenting with different computer-aided design applications to create modular, reusable, and cleaner pieces of artwork, particularly for assets for my programming projects.

Steampunk Diorama
Scenic view. The centre displays an obscure monument.
30/04/2022
I created this improvised steampunk setting, using the cogs as inspiration for the rest of the composition. I used this piece as an opportunity to explore the rendering settings of MagicaVoxel, in order to gain a better understanding for future projects. I was unsure of what to place on the island at the centre, and settled for a few simple elements. I might revisit this later and try for an alternative variation. Edit: I moved onto Blender instead.
The improvised project emerged from these initial cogs. The panelling behind them followed, trying to maintain a similar 'steampunk' aesthetic.

Sci-fi Cathedral

20/04/2022
I created this improvised sci-fi cathedral over the course of 2 days. The main graphical challenge for this small project was to simulate the curvature of the cylidrical centre and dome of the main building, along with the features that surround them.

Voxel Art First Attempts
Second day of voxel art.
28/03/2022
After seeing voxel art online, I decided to download the free opensource software MagicaVoxel and try to have a go myself. I was particularly attracted to the ease of constructing and rendering 3D models, which is something that I've been wanting to do for some time. The YouTube video tutorial used as a launchpad for learning how to use the software can be found here: How to Create 3D Voxel Art with MagicaVoxel (PremiumBeat.com).
